Every live MagnetAPI model, directly in VS Code Chat.

The personalized setup installs the extension, connects this account, stores the System Token in VS Code SecretStorage, and removes the temporary bootstrap file. It does not replace your existing providers or editor settings.

1. Prepare VS Code

Install Visual Studio Code. On Windows, reopen PowerShell after installation. On macOS, run Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH from the VS Code Command Palette.

2. Close VS Code and run one setup

Close every VS Code window, then copy the personalized Windows or macOS/Linux command below and run it as the same user who opens VS Code.

3. Open your project folder

Start VS Code again and choose File > Open Folder. Select the local project you want the coding tools to read and edit.

Windows PowerShell

Run this in normal PowerShell as the Windows user who opens VS Code. The script box contains commands only.

macOS / Linux / WSL

Run this in Terminal or Bash as the same user who opens VS Code. The script box contains commands only.

4. Choose MagnetAPI in Chat

Open VS Code Chat, click the model picker, choose MagnetAPI, and select a model. The extension reads the current model list from your account automatically.

5. Use Agent mode for coding work

Use normal Chat for questions. Choose Agent when you want approved file reads, edits, project search, terminal commands, or MCP tools.

Local tools remain local

VS Code controls and executes approved file, edit, terminal, search, and MCP tools on your computer in the project folder you opened. MagnetAPI carries model requests and typed tool schemas; it does not move your checkout onto the gateway.

How to use VIP setup

The VIP server now accepts codexclaude and the approved VIP VS Code setup only. It was built for our state of the art, frequently updated coding app so users get better compatibility, lower operating cost, and stronger token-rate value than native Codex CLI or Claude Code on the Frankfurt host. If you prefer the native clients, use the normal Canada or Chicago setup instead.

Ubuntu / Debian / WSL

Run this in a Bash terminal on Ubuntu, Debian, or WSL. It installs Node.js when needed, installs or updates codexclaude, and writes the VIP Frankfurt configuration for your account.

macOS

Run this in Terminal on macOS. It installs Homebrew and Node.js only when missing, installs or updates codexclaude, and writes the VIP Frankfurt configuration for your account.

Windows PowerShell

Run this in PowerShell as your normal Windows user. It installs Node.js with winget when needed, installs or updates codexclaude, and writes the VIP Frankfurt configuration for your account.

MagnetAPI for VS Code

Run this in Windows PowerShell as your normal Windows user with VS Code closed. It installs the personalized MagnetAPI extension, connects this account to the Frankfurt VIP endpoint, moves the System Token into VS Code SecretStorage, and removes the temporary bootstrap file without replacing editor settings or other providers.

Ubuntu / Debian

Cursor setup

Use your MagnetAPI System Token in Cursor.

Cursor supports bring-your-own OpenAI API keys for standard chat models. These scripts prepare your personalized MagnetAPI profile without replacing Cursor settings, extensions, MCP servers, or other model providers.

1. Run the script for your operating system as the same user who opens Cursor.
2. Open Cursor. Press Ctrl+, on Windows/Linux or Cmd+, on macOS, then open Models.
3. Under API Keys, choose OpenAI and paste the System Token copied by the script.
4. Enable Override OpenAI Base URL and enter https://api.magnetapi.org/v1.
5. Click Verify, select gpt-5.6, open your project folder, and start a new Agent chat. Cursor's local file, edit, search, and terminal tools remain attached to that project.

Cursor-owned features such as Tab Completion continue through Cursor. MagnetAPI wallet billing applies to chat requests sent using the custom API key.

macOS / Linux / WSL

Run this Bash script in Terminal. It installs Cursor Agent through Cursor's official installer, backs up the MagnetAPI Cursor profile, writes the current API details, verifies the System Token, and copies it where clipboard support is available.

Windows PowerShell

Run this in normal PowerShell. It installs Cursor when required, backs up the MagnetAPI Cursor profile, writes the current API details, verifies the System Token, and copies it to the Windows clipboard.

OpenClaw Setup

Use MagnetAPI.org as the model provider inside OpenClaw. Instructions stay above the script box; the dark box contains only the selected setup script.
